Should I buy a dishwasher?

The home appliance market is saturated with all kinds of home appliances. Without some of them, we cannot imagine our life, be it a kettle, a stove or a washing machine. We buy some devices under the influence of good publicity, seeing something new and interesting, and the third to be, in case of “what if it is useful”.

As a result, many unnecessary items appear in the kitchen, without which it was possible to do well. The question arises: is it worth buying a dishwasher, will it become another useless and unnecessary thing in the kitchen, where there is so little space? Weigh the pros and cons of such a purchase.

Do i need a dishwasher?

A dishwasher is the household appliance many families easily live without, and they feel no worse than those who own such a machine. The dishwasher is more associated with catering establishments, for example, restaurants, cafes, hotels, where there are many dirty dishes during the day. However, as statistics show, more and more people began to buy this home appliance item in order to simplify the lives of themselves and their loved ones.

Do i need a dishwasher? We believe that it is necessary, but we do not force anyone to think the same, we only want to base our point of view with real facts. You have the right to think that a dishwasher is an extra element of the home, why is it necessary for one or two people to wash a dish and waste water on it? But don’t be too quick to jump to conclusions. Imagine a simple dinner for two: mashed potatoes with a patty, fresh cabbage salad with a cucumber, a cup of tea.

It seems that there are few plates, only a couple of plates, a salad bowl, two cups and two forks, which take a maximum of 10 minutes to wash. Why load a large dishwasher and wait 2-3 hours for it to finish washing? Everything is completely wrong, because do not forget that there is still a dirty pan, a pan that you cooked in, and if you still prepare the sauce separately for the cutlets, this will be another small saucepan. Now imagine how much space this will take up in the dishwasher, that’s quite a lot, and it’s just after-dinner dishes for two.

We examined just one example of many, they think about such nuances only after buying a dishwasher. It turns out that part of the dishes must be washed by hand, because it does not fit in the machine that the seller advised. If you observe, it will become clear that the point is not in technique at all, but in a hasty choice.

Saying that a dishwasher is not needed can only be someone who feels the true pleasure of washing dishes in the sink, but we think there are few such people.

We analyze the characteristics

Without a doubt, a dishwasher makes kitchen work easier, and buying it is everyone’s business. But that pleasure is not cheap, like a washing machine. That is why, to answer the question of whether it is worth buying, you need to understand the characteristics in order to evaluate all the pros and cons of the dishwasher.

  • One of the most important characteristics is the capacity of the dishwasher and its dimensions. The larger the unit, the more dishes you can wash at one time. The smallest machine models are designed for 4 sets of plates, the largest can hold up to 17 sets. But, especially on the market, models are offered with a load of 9 to 14 games. And here everything is very simple: the bigger your family, the bigger the dishwasher needs to be, otherwise be prepared to start the dishwasher after every meal.
    Don’t be put at ease with the idea that many dishes will fit into a small machine, this is a myth.Such dishwashers do not include baking sheets, large pans, and bulky pans. But this does not mean that she does not cope with the washing function at all. She will wash all small plates and plates of very high quality.
  • The dimensions of the dishwasher in most cases are standard. The width of most models is 45 cm (narrow cars) or 60. It is completely in vain to think that for a kitchen with an area of about 6 square meters. m. the dishwasher won’t fit at all, you shouldn’t even buy it. There is a solution to the problem: optimize the storage of dishes and products in the kitchen, and you will understand that you have a place for a dishwasher. In extreme cases, you can buy a desktop model or a small car and build it under the sink.
  • Time to wash dishes. On average, the duration of a wash cycle is 120-160 minutes, which does not work in favor of buying a dishwasher. But is how quickly your dishes will be in the cupboard so important? And you can start washing at night, without waiting for it to finish. It will take about 10 minutes for the whole process to load the dishes and then take them out.
  • The quality of the washing is a characteristic of a dishwasher called the washing class, which is the highest for all modern machines. This is an advantage for a dishwasher, because you cannot wash dishes with your hands like the machine does, and most importantly, because your hands will not withstand the water temperature of 50-70 0 C. At this temperature, bacteria they will die, which is important. The quality of the wash will also depend on the quality of the detergent, as well as the arrangement of the dishes.
    Some dishwasher models have the ability to pre-rinse and soak dishes, allowing you to seamlessly accumulate it inside the dishwasher throughout the day.
  • Any dishwasher is equipped with a dryer, which can be condensed and forced (turbo drying). You don’t have to waste time cleaning dishes, especially since it is simply impossible or very difficult to clean glass or glass without streaks. After the dishwasher, transparent objects, glasses, wine glasses just shine.
  • The presence of additional functions makes it possible not only to wash dishes, but also, for example, to sterilize cans for workpieces. Also, with this feature, you can’t be afraid to wash children’s dishes.

How inexpensive is a dishwasher?

A common opinion is that a dishwasher saves water. We can agree to this, especially with tangible savings if the machine is connected to cold water. When you wash dishes under running water, your consumption is much higher than with an automatic wash. Thanks to the spray system, little water is consumed, due to the feeding speed and heating to a high temperature, it washes dishes more efficiently.

For your information! Most dishwasher models consume 12-13 liters of water, in premium models, the water consumption can be about 7-8 liters, while when washing by hand in a day, up to 60 liters of water are used .

But don’t think that the smaller the dishwasher, the lower the water consumption – this is the second myth. The water consumption depends on the device of the machine and not on the dimensions. After all, even in full-size cars there is a half-load function, which saves water and electricity.

But saving hot and cold water won’t cover the cost of electricity. On average, the dishwasher consumes about 0.8 kW / h, it turns out to be about 70 kW per month, but this is with minimal calculations. To pay for electricity, it is worth adding the costs of detergents, which include powder, special salt and rinse aid. There are cheap and expensive tools, but this does not change the essence of the matter. The maintenance and operating costs of the dishwasher will exceed the costs of manual washing, but on the other hand it will be a charge for free time and quiet nerves.

The advantages of a dishwasher compared to a face hand wash, but we decided to make sure of this and read user reviews. This is what visitors to the Beybiblog website and other forums are saying about whether to buy a dishwasher or not. Almost unanimously, everyone supported the purchase, and not against. Even those who find some flaws in the selected model are not opposed to the purchase, and still say that the car helps a lot in the kitchen, especially when guests arrive.

The dishwasher saves you time, over time, when you learn to organize dishes correctly, the loading process will take no more than three minutes. Regarding the profitability of the dishwasher, I would say that the cost is almost the same, but the hands and nails will always look neat. And it is also impossible to clean the dishes as clean as the technique. And let her do it for 2 hours, what are the problems? I don’t care if only the result. I am happy with my Bosch.

People, show me the person who would say after buying a dishwasher that is useless, I have not seen those people. With her looks I can’t imagine now how to drive without her. Of course, there are objects that cannot be washed, for example, kitchen knives with wooden handles, wooden planks, pans with Teflon coating. And you should not unnecessarily save and buy a narrow model, because there are no savings yet, but there will be problems with the placement of some large kitchen items.

With both hands to buy a dishwasher. For me, I noticed such advantages. First of all, the quality of the wash is incomparable with the manual, much better and at least 40 minutes. Secondly, saving hot water is important, since you are used to washing dishes under a stream of hot water, spending a lot of time in it, the dishwasher is connected to the cold, which is already an advantage. Third, aggressive detergents do not touch the skin of the hands, I cannot wash them with gloves. Fourth, saving time, I like to cook, because there are many dishes, I have to load the dishwasher a couple of times. And finally, the large five-liter pots are washed with a bang, they were real problems by hand, they had to be shuffled and soaked for a long time. But I don’t even consider the downsides

To sum up: all the pros and cons

Summarizing the above, we briefly look at all the advantages of a dishwasher that “forces” people to make a purchase:

  • saving personal time that can be spent on vacations;
  • wash high-quality dishes without much effort;
  • fight against microbes;
  • no negative effects on the skin of the hands;
  • no need to clean dishes;
  • And most importantly, you don’t have to figure out who will do the dishes today, the technician will do it for you.

Note the downsides, we identify only two:

  • a good dishwasher from a well-known brand will cost a lot, you will have to pay well for it, but the reliability of such a machine will be much higher;
  • If you are having trouble choosing a spot in a small apartment for a full large dishwasher, there is a trade off, but you will have to sacrifice something.

Therefore, a dishwasher is a necessary thing in everyday life, but not everyone, due to financial capabilities, can afford such an acquisition. If you decide to buy a dishwasher, read how to do it correctly in the article How to choose a dishwasher for your home .
